OK, as promised, here is the set-list from the Star Club recorded by recorded by Adrian Barber between Tuesday 18th December and 31st December 1962.

Depending on whose theories and evidence you believe (mainly Hans Olof Gottfridsson, Martha Rednow & Ben Gesh, and Eric Krasker), there were between 3 and 4 sets recorded around Christmas 1962. Having read all the evidence I can find, I've decided to go with Krasker's version of events.

Please bear in mind - the ORIGINAL tapes no longer exist, it's just copies handed from person to person over the years, so the original running order of the tracks is extremely difficult to determine. In 1992, three tapes came up for auction  purporting to contain the original running order of 25 of the tracks. But the truth is, because  these performances were recorded in 1962, they were officially the property of EMI - to combat this fact, the whole history of the performances was deliberately clouded to avoid any court action which might ensue.

So, here, to further confuse you all, is pretty much a definitive list of what was recorded way back in that Christmas of 1962!

SET ONE
All tracks have been released on LP or CD unless otherwise stated
1 Be-Bop-A-Lu-La (Fred Fascher vocal)
2 I Saw Her Standing There
3 Hallelujah I Love Her So (Horst Fascher vocal)
4 Red Hot - short clip available on Anthology DVD/Video volume one
5 Sheila
6 I'm Talkin' Bout You
7 Twist And Shout
8 Mr Moonlight
9 Sweet Little Sixteen
10 Besame Mucho
11 Red Sails In The Sunset
12 I Remember You
13 I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Cry (Over You)
14 Kansas City (Hey hey hey)
15 I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Kate (aka Shimmy Shimmy)
16 Long Tall Sally
17 Falling In Love Again (I Can't Help It)
18 Roll Over Beethoven
19 A Taste of Honey - Unreleased
20 To Know Her Is To Love Her - unreleased version

The above should be the correct running order of set one! From here on, the running order gets a little murky!

SET TWO
All tracks have been released on LP or CD unless otherwise stated
1 A Taste Of Honey
2 Till There Was You
3 Where Have You Been All My Life?
4 Lend Me Your Comb
5 Your Feet's Too Big
6 I'm Talkin' Bout You - available on bootleg LP - VE Records DX62
7 To Know Her Is To Love Her
8 Everybody's Trying To Be My baby
9 Matchbox
10 Little Queenie
11 Nothin' Shakin' But The Leaves On the Tree
12 Roll Over Beethoven - available on bootleg LP - VE Records DX62
13 A Taste Of Honey - unreleased version

SET THREE
All tracks have been released on LP or CD unless otherwise stated
1 Road Runner - unreleased version
2 Hippy Hippy Shake
3 A Taste Of Honey - unreleased version
4 Money (That's What I Want) - backing Tony Sheridan - unreleased
5 Reminiscing
6 Ask Me Why
7 I Saw Her Standing There - available on bootleg EP: Beatleg News Christmas 1989 WS01A/B

The tape is switched off here and continues with a different band, more than likely Ted "Kingsize" Taylor and the Dominoes.

So, there were a total of 40 tracks

There are a couple of other tracks which are rumoured to feature The Beatles, the most widely quoted of these is Hully Gully - this has never been confirmed and is probably just Ted "Kingsize" Taylor and the Dominoes.

Hope this helps!

Please feel free to criticise, make any corrections or pass any comments you see fit

Thanks T.E.
I'm pleased you agree with Krasker on the three (not four) sets so I don't have to buy all those other books!
You disagree on some of the content of the first two sets. What motivated your choices?
For example in the second set it seems strange to start with a slow number and even stranger to repeat this same number at the end of the same set.

Well, most of the first set was on those allegedly un-edited tape reels sold at Sotheby's - so that was fairly simple. The other two sets COULD be in totally different orders - that's what I meant when I said the running order was a little "murky" for sets 2 and 3.

Anyway, glad you liked it - it took me HOURS to research! At least we know what tracks are available now

Well, funnily enough, Krasker says the first set is the most difficult to decide on!I think it's the same up to Sheila, God bless her, but after that it's completely different.

Do you have Krasker's set list? I couldn't find it on the net - I was going to buy the book, but it's only available in French at the moment.

Hi everybody. I've been looking for a complete list of the songs performed by the Beatles in the Star-Club. Anyone knows any? I really want to make my own bootleg of these performances, because I know there are many numbers that they never released on disc.
Thank you!
